Transforming The Wyndham: A Modular Cladding Milestone
199 William St, also known as The Wyndham, is the largest prefabricated modular project FacadeX has completed, with over 13,000 square meters of cladding and windows. The project presented significant challenges, particularly with multiple interfaces on an existing building structure and the need to accommodate the tolerances of 1950s construction.
By using AS4284 fully tested wall systems, we were able to quickly develop a range of prefabricated design solutions. This included not only standard cladding walls with windows but also unique configurations. Notably, we designed and installed 26 stories of rainscreen cladding, spanning existing lift cores in excess of 10 meters and directly connecting to the building structure.
In a unique collaborative effort, we engineered and installed balcony cladding systems prior to the structural slab being poured, eliminating the need for screens for these areas.
