PROJECT OVERVIEW
Modular Cladding System for Werribee Mercy Hospital
For the Werribee Mercy Hospital project, the government client had a clear vision for the development. Working alongside Multiplex, FacadeX designed a modular, large-format wall system to meet the project’s requirements. The system underwent a thorough design and panel breakdown process, followed by engineering and performance testing to meet the site’s 2.8kPa design load.
The external surface consists of Colorbond folded mini panels, pre-fitted to a mega panel wall system. These mega panels are AS4284-tested, sealed modules with cladding attached to the exterior. Additional elements, such as windows, sun shades, and other façade treatments, were integrated into the panel system.
Each phase panel measures approximately 11.4 meters by 4.2 meters, weighing nearly 2 tonnes. The final wall system performance exceeded expectations, with an air infiltration rate of around 0.9 m³ of air loss per square meter at 50Pa, surpassing the 2.0 performance target.
