PROJECT OVERVIEW
Cladding Installation for West Gate Bridge Infrastructure Project
FacadeX is currently leading the installation of cladding on Bridges 50, 51, and 52 as part of the West Gate Bridge infrastructure project. As the tunnels exit over the Maribyrnong river, this cladding is part of the indigenous architectural story representing an Eel. Our responsibility includes the design, coordination, and installation of 14,000m² of Glass-Reinforced Thermoset (GRT) panels—a key element in both the aesthetic appeal and protective functionality of the bridge structures.
This complex installation involves 1,080 panels, each with a unique combination of bracket connections and set-outs. One of the major challenges of this project is coordinating as-built data while working on an elevated road over both land and water. Our team’s expertise ensures that the project progresses smoothly, with precision and efficiency, despite the logistical challenges.
